V-day

Jak Wam minęły Walentynki, świętujecie? My z mężem zawsze sobie coś miłego wręczaliśmy w ten dzień. W tym roku, Jagna zaskoczyła nas przygotowaniami do Walentynek. Zrobiła dla każdego z nas wspaniałą kartkę a my kupiliśmy jej kubek z napisem Love. Taki sam jaki ma jej ulubiona YouTuberka. Ja też zrobiłam dla wszystkich kartki kolażowe z których jestem, nieskromnie mówiąc, bardzo zadowolona.

Poza tym w Walentynki była u nas paskudna pogoda, nie dało się wyjść z domu, dlatego też poczyniłam dwie łapki do garnków, oczywiście w kształcie serca, ze starych dżinsów. Łapki są uszyte w całości ręcznie. Pamiętajcie, nigdy nie wyrzucajcie starych dżinsów!

How was your Valentine’s day? Do you celebrate? We had never got a big celebration of this holiday but each year we made something small. This year Jagna was really into V-day and prepared very nice cards for each of us. So we bought for her a cup with Love on it. It is exactly the same cup as her favorite YouTuber has, so you can imagine how happy she was. I also made collage cards for everyone and I must admit I really love them.

On the V-day we had a terrible weather so we stayed all day at home. Having so much time I hand-sewn two heart-shaped-coasters from old denim pants. Remember; never throw away old denim pants!

 

High tea

 As you can see I try to stay on the wave of drawing pleasure. I’m so happy that I have kids because they really like such childish illustrations. 

This is the very first one drawing in my brand new Moleskine for watercolor. I heard so many good things about it but truly, now I think that it not so super special. Who knows, perhaps I will change my mind after several pages. 

Jak widać wykorzystuję fakt, że wciąż chce mi się rysować. Dobrze, że mam dzieci bo one naprawdę potrafią docenić moją sztukę naiwną. 

To mój pierwszy obrazek w nowiusieńkim Moleskine do akwareli. Kupiłam go jako nagrodę dla siebie za zapełnienie pierwszego szkicownika. Tyle dobrego o nim słyszałam, a prawda jest taka, że mój własnoręcznie zrobiony szkicownik miał wcale nie gorszy papier. Kto wie, może moja opinia o nim jeszcze się zmieni.

Mint and chamomile

My kids do not really like tea or other warm beverages besides hot chocolate. It was a problem for quite some time because they only wanted to drink milk and water with sweet syrup (things they always got at the daycare). I thought that this will last forever but one day my boy got sick and I made for him mint infusion, which he really liked. The next was chamomile infusion, another hit (most of kids hate chamomile). When my girl saw how he enjoys it, she also decided to give herbal infusions a try. I was delighted because I love herbal infusions. My favorite was mint-chamomile mix. Very refreshing and tasty both warm and cold. If you like it sweetened I recommend to use honey. It is also delicious with some lemon. I usually mix equal parts of both herbs. If you do not have dried herbs, you can use one bag of mint tea and one tea bag of chamomile.

Moje dzieci nie bardzo lubią herbatę ani żadnych innych ciepłych napojów oprócz kakao. Przez długi czas był to dla mnie problem bo do każdego posiłku piły tylko wodę z sokiem lub mleko. Zmieniło się to niedawno gdy synek zachorował i miał problemy żołądkowe. Zaparzyłam mu wtedy herbaty z mięty a potem z rumianku. Podszedł do tego z dużą rezerwą, ale w końcu mu bardzo zasmakowało. Nawet jego siostra się skusiła i od tego czasu obydwoje piją herbaty z tych ziół. Najbardziej lubią jednak herbatę miętowo-rumiankową (robię ja z jednakowych porcji obydwu ziół). Jest pyszna z miodem i cytryną. Świetna zarówno na gorąco jak i na zimno. Spróbujcie, polecam! Ja znam ją i uwielbiam od najmłodszych lat.

It does not happens very often, but from time to time both of my children go to their friends after school. This happened last Tuesday. Since I did not have anything important to do, I decided to relax a bit and brew a cup of green tea mix “Mona Lisa smile”. It is a beautiful mix of green tea, rose blossom and pieces of strawberries. It has beautiful colors, scent and tastes great. Very inspiring… as you can see. I could not stop to take pictures and then it was difficult to decide which I like the most. Tea time/ Czas na herbatę

Apple does not fall far from the tree. This is a work of my daughter Jagna. She is not particularly keen on drinking tea but she loves teapots and tea cups just as much as I do. Isn’t cute?

Jabłko pada niedaleko od jabłoni. Moja Jagna, choć (na razie) nie przepada za herbatą to uwielbia, tak jak ja, wszelkiego rodzaju czajniczki, filiżanki, kubki I wszystko co związane z herbatą. Oto jej herbaciany wytwór. Fajny, nie?

Delfts blauw :)

A little tea pot made for a colleague . She got married last Wednesday and this was a part of a gift from our group. I did not plan this originally but it makes me think about delftware (pun).

Mały czajnik dla koleżanki z pracy, która wyszła za mąż w zeszłą środę. Ten czajnik był częścią prezentu od naszej grupy. Choć to nie było moim zamiarem to trochę mi on przypomina fajans z Delficką (to taki żarcik to oczywiście).

Finally, Silvana also received my package. I was already worried that it disappeared somewhere in the ocean. But now I can show you what I’ve made for her. This is kind of recycled quilt as the blue fabric used to be my hubby shirt. The tea cup and pot are made with reverse appliqué, strawberries and cherries with raw-edges appliqué. The little cute crochet apple was made by Agah. I thought that it perfectly fits the theme. The idea for mounting I have stolen from PatchworkPottery.

On pictures the background fabrics looks pretty wrinkled but in reality it is not so visible. At least it was not before sending it to Brazil.

 

Pamiętacie jeszcze moją wymianę z Silort? Jeśli nie, to zapraszam tutaj.

Już się zaczynałam martwić, że moja przesyłka wpadła do Atlantyku, ale dziś rano Silvana poinformowała mnie, że przesyłka dotarła do niej w całości; cóż za ulga! Z tej oto okazji chwalę się moją robotą. Makatka jest częściowo recyklingowa, jako, że materiał na tlo pochodzi z mężowej koszuli. Filiżanka i dzbanek wykonane są techniką aplikacji odwrotnej, a czereśnie i truskawki, zwykłą aplikacją. Małe szydełkowe jabluszko wyszło spod rąk Agah. Bardzo mi ono pasowało do całosci. Pomysł na zawieszenie podpatrzyłam u PatchworkPottery.

Na zdjęciach makatka wygląda na dosyć pogniecioną, ale w rzeczywistości nie było aż tak źle (Pikutku, potwierdź!). Choć może powinnam powiedzieć, że przed wysłaniem do Brazylii nie było źle..

Summertime tea

Few weeks ago together with Silort we decided to make a small swap of quilts. The theme was “tea and summer time”. Just few days ago I received a package from Brazil with my quilt, beautiful card, lovely chocolate bars and a beautiful piece of fabric.

When I saw the quilt for the very first time I was speechless. It was clear that Silvana made a very good survey of what I like and made a perfect quilt.

Then when I started to look at the details I became a bit ashamed of my precision… But if I will tell you that Sil a surgeon then you can probably imagine how precisely she is. Well, I am only a simple ecotoxicologist so do not expect too much from me ;)

Silvana, I’m so happy that we swapped quilts. I hope that my one will reach you soon!

 

Pare tygodni temu postanowiłyśmy z Silort wymienić się makatkami. Tematem przewodnim miała być (oczywiście) herbata i lato. Pare dni temu dotarła do mnie przesyłka z Brazylii z moja makatką, czekoladkami, sliczną kartką i kawałkiem slicznej tkaniny.

Gdy zobaczyłam makatkę to oniemiałam. Widać po niej, że Silvana długo studiowała moje ulubione fotki na flikrze i dzięki temu zrobiła coś naprawde w moim guście.

Gdy zaczęłam przyglądać się detalom I wykonaniu to troche zrobiło mi się wstyd bo sobie pomyślałam, że tak dokładna to moja makatka nie była. No ale Sil jest chirurgiem, więc musi być dokładna a ja jestem tylko prostym ekotoksykologiem :) Tak sobie to muszę tłumaczyć…

Ogromnie się cieszę z tej wymiany. Mam nadzieję, że moja makatka dotrze do niej już niedługo.

Carrot cake/Tort marchewkowy

Some days ago I found a piece of hubby’s old shirt and few scraps of nice fabrics. I started to play with it and eventually I made a small wall hanging quilt. In the first instance I wanted to swap it whit someone but later I discovered that I do not have card for my sister wedding. So I took fabric pen and wrote my wishes on the back side and gave it to her. Now I regret that I did not make a glass champagne instead of the cup. I won’t deny that it is inspired by Priscilla Jones’ works :)

In this quilt I used raw edges appliqué, reverse appliqué and machine embroidery.

   

Parę dni temu zasiadłam do maszyny ze skrawkiem starej koszuli mężowej i kilkoma ścinkami fajnych szmatek. Zaczęłam szyć i zrobiłam małą makatkę. Na początku myślałam, żeby ją na coś wymienić, ale potem odkryłam, że nie mam kartki ślubnej dla mojej siostry, więc napisałam życzenia na odwrocie i wręczyłam jej ją. Troche żałuję, że zamiast kubka nie wyszyłam kieliszka do szampana, no ale skąd mogłam wiedzieć… Nie będę ukrywać, że mocno się inspirowałam pracami Priscilli Jones.

Makatka jest wykonana metodą aplikacji z postrzępionymi brzegami (moje tłumaczenie raw egdes appliqué), aplikacji odwrotnej i haftu maszynowego.
